Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

In another thread we started talking about low cost shower pan options. I haven't seen anything like what was being discussed, I dropped by Home Depot today and they only stock $$$ shower pans. I can make one out of fiberglass/epoxy but wouldn't mind finding something pre-made or modifiable if it were economical.

That is a shower pan "to be", it looks like a laundry sink that is about to be cut down to make a shower pan.

What about a shallow plywood box , with fiberglass on the inside... sealed very well .... we used a similar box for a printers water box for 20 years ... oughta' be thrifty enough ... just something else to build and pretty easy to do a custom size...

But I like the idea of making your own from plywood and fiberglass - more economical and able to customize it. I am working on a modified puffin on the harbor freight trailer, so I want to build the box to set on the floor when in use. If I build another one later on, I would weld up a trailer and set the steel to accept a dropped floor for the shower box. I could cover the box when not in use, giving more room across the front.

I just couldn't find one the right size.

I made it 32X42 by using an excess piece of 32 gage aluminum. I did all the metal bending in a door frame. Cut the drain hole in it where I wanted it.

I figured the actual cost was about $25 plus the drain. (based on using 1/2 sheet of aluminum, a full sheet was $50).



The room is so small I don't really have any good photos of the finished product.

BUT...I was out the other day and I saw one of these.

They looked sturdy enough, if installed with proper backing.

I'm sure you could get one locally.
