Anybody ever tried...

Shrug's idea for a wooden frame overlay on a HF 4 x 8 trailer? This seems to be what I am looking for!

I want to do 5 x 9 or 10, depending on the weight. Our tow vehicle for now will be a 1990 Honda Accord. (we can't seem to kill it!) It has a tow capacity of 1000# and tongue 100#.

I figure the heaviest part will be the floor framing, bumping it out to be 5' or so to accomidate a queen. I don't want or need a fancy galley, because even if the height wasn't raised any, I'm only 4''11" and I will cook on a camp table or picnic table. (Ihate being short sometimes, but in a TD it may be an asset!!) I do however want to plan for a fridge and A/C, cause dang it's hot here, and we want to go to FL and TX!

I plan on using sandwich construction for the walls and roof, leaning towards Mikes 5 x 8 weekender design. It shouldn't weigh that much till I get the fridge and A/C in it!

Anyone want to venture a guess on weight?

Why not just buy my square weekender. It's 5' and it's light weight. And I'll give you a really good price on it...

We are still relatively newlyweds, or at least act like it. What are the effects of ...well...you know...in a teardrop?

Oh sure... Insulate it well, put 4 stabilizers on it, and always use them. Park the teardrop in a tent, and turn out the lights!!! Oh duct tape over the mouth!!!

Of course the duct tape...It's already packed with our tent camping supplies. McGyver taught everyone to "never leave home without it"!

4 stabilizers were already planned. That's all I need, get up in the nite to tinkle and capsize the whole darn thing!

Dawn How's the Triad?
I'm not finished yet, far from it, but I have weighed my components. I'm building a 5X10 using sandwich methods and so far it's coming out fairly light. My floor is 71lbs each wall is 57lbs, and the galley cabinets are 108.7lbs. I also found this page http://www.pacific-recycling.com/SStube.html that will help estimate the weight of the frame. I had to drop the frige idea because of space constraints. I will install A/C though. I will stay in the South so I'll probably need it.
