Wall framing technique…

I have seen (most common) the use 1 x .75 boards for framing… I have also seen a ¾” ply with the centers cut out.
What is the advantage one over the other? Seems the 1x would be cheaper with ledss waste, but the ply would be stronger and easier.
I was just curious on the why of it…

The solid plywood is quicker and easier. However, the framing with skins and insulation is very strong and also light!! An additonal benifit (IMHO) is that you have a better material to 'edge fasten' into with the framing type.

Weight would be my answer that I observed thru the build. I only used the ply on my round parts and cut out studs from a sheet of 3/4

If you insulate, sticks are the correct thickness for insulation. Plywood is about 1/32" thinner than insulation.
Ditto on Kerry's edge fastening comment.

1 x.75?
I used 1x2 which is .75 x 1.5 actual. They sell them at the box store, so no ripping is involved. They are also pretty cheap, I paid like .90 cents apiece for 8 footers.
