Vinyl Install Question

Postby Classic Finn » Sun Oct 14, 2007 7:47 am

Im sitting here planning my Vinyl Install and was wondering as to how to go about installing the vinyl where the Fan is? since it needs to be sealed around the fan?

Whats the best way of doing this...should I just bring the vinyl over the fan hole and cut out the hole there and seal the fan on top?

That's what I did. No problems so far. Once the vinyl was over the opening I cut an X and wrapped the vinyl over the edges. Glued and stapled down.

Hi Victor Star

I notice there is a little groove or cut lower than the wall there..
Is there a reason for that or?

Thats exactly what I had in mind to do.. also but just wanted to know my intentions were correct.. Did you then seal the bottom of the fan as usual?

Thank You Kindly for your assistance..

PS that tear of your sure looks great..

The groove, well, I wanted to keep the curved profile on the sides so I made a flat area for the fan to sit on. Here's a better photo.

I sealed the bottom of the fan and screwed it down with stainless screws.
Thanks! Your tear is turning out awesome.

Okay ... that explains it..   I guess I dont have to do that since that area is quite flat on mine... ;)

Did you use a gasket under it or just a sealant of sometype?

I put mine on top of closed cell foam, so around the fan I have a 1/4" thick spacer to raise the fan slightly above the foam so I don't create a low spot where the fan mounts. I sealed with a little RTV between the flange and the vinyl.
