Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hello all,

Should you think that its possible to make a slide-out kitchen in the back of a teardrop? Maybe a bigger modell?

I was thinking about a sort of a grasshopper, with the slideout on the rightside, and the space that is left, using by example a porta potti room behind a curtain. The system can be the same as the slide-out of the bed somewhere on this forum. The only thing that is missing, is a hinge to protect you for sun or rain. But on the other hand, you can make something out of textile.

Well, do you think thats possible?

I happened to run across a post of the same name, maybe it will help you. I would think it would be easier to make the kitchen slide out of the trailer straight back.

BUT, when I make a slideout of the trailer straight back, I am missing a lot of social contacts. The campsites in Europe are different than yours.
Smaaler and we are standing or camping most of the times in lanes. That is because its the most economic way for the campsite owner.
first i am going to make this in modell, look how it holds.
When it is finished I will show it.

Oh, I see. So would the kitchen be facing the front of the trailer or the side when it slides out?

The slide out will be on the right site of the trailer. At the back.
Then the toilet is also at the back, that gives privacy.
And the 220 volt will also be at the backside.
I don't know how to upload pics in here, in that way I could have show you what I mean. A picture says more than 1000 words.

I did a rear slide-out kitchen years ago. I found that by altering the profile I could do the same thing.




Because of bad weather you must be able to sleep in the unit with the slide-out either open or closed.

Can you keep the lit open when you are sleeping, with all the bears around?

We don't have wild animals overhere. Yes rabbits and some dears.

Most of the time you must take care of people who want the things you have,

don't know how you call them.

Thanks for the pics, that's also a possibilety. Looks nice, but what happens in this case with the inside. Are the cabinets also sliding with the outsiders or are they staying apart?

You could close the lid and still sleep inside with it down. All I really gained was a place, when its open by your feet to put a suitcase. (which had to be moved when I closed it.)

The upper cabnet did move as well.





I don't own it any more, all thats left are the photos.

The Australians have a very slick tent-trailer design called a Kamparoo (http://www.kamparoo.com/), which features a slide-out kitchen. Theirs is either in the tongue box or immediately behind. You may be able to plunder some of their ideas...

The kamparoo is alsmost the same tentcar as the Combicamp from Danemark. We have a lot of designs like that on this side of the water.

The kitchen however is a real handy one.
But if I have to choose, I will take something of aartkok. Thats Dutch.
