What about blandex?

Hi everyone! I have not posted for a while but I've been lurking. Just wondering if there is any use for 1/2" blandex,chip board, wafer board or what ever you call it in your neck of the woods in a TD? The reason I ask is I was at the lumber yard today and was asking if they might carry any over size sheets of plywood. Course they don't. But they carry 4x12 sheets of blandex. How about it? Thanks

Kim, check this out as an alternative to the chip board idea. Doug Hodder has a VERY good idea to make an oversized sheet of ply.

This is just my opinion but I have seen too many mobile homes with soft floors (some with holes all the way through) to ever use blandex, chip board or sawdust board. I realize that blandex with the 4 to 6 inch chips pressed and glued together are solid and quite strong, but when it comes to something like a TD that will be exposed to the elements and road splash, etc, I want good solid exterier plywood. And then I plan on sealing the edges with epoxy to keep the moisture out.
This is just my 2 cents and others may not agree with me, but that's how I feel. I like Dougs method of making longer plywood using the spline method. I have never done it but it sure looks like a good method and I will be using it. My Tear will be 12 feet long and 5 feet high and I would sure like the sides to be one piece.
