Has anyone considered alufiber for their teardrop? TAB is going to start offering alufiber this March or April when they start up production again! Just think, tears that wash up as clean and as easy as a car!!!

It must be a fairly new product. A google search turns up a lot of german hits. So I switched over to advanced search, specified english only, and found this one...

this is the stuff I was thinking of http://www.metalroofing.com.au/products ... curved.asp
I inquired today and to cover a 5 by 8 teardrop trailer (10 square meters)
wieghs about 50kg's and was $172 AU plus the cost of bending they guesed about $15 AU per bend.
it might be a bit heavy but would be very strong?

Mike,

You said TAB is going to offer alufiber. What/who is "TAB" ? Do you have a web link?

http://www.tab-rv.com/ One of the more "commercial" Tear Drop manufacturers. It has an internal galley, and no rear hatch.

They are talking about 'T@B' not TAB! :? Just do a google and you should find something. Or just try this link: http://www.tab-rv.com/

Hi, First time poster.

I have been looking for different materials to build a tear out of and have found some that interest me.

The first is Alucobond http://www.alucobondusa.com/
is two sheets of aluminum with a polyethylene core.

Another is Alucore http://www.alucore.com/english/produkte ... lucore.htm
It is 2 sheets of aluminium with a honeycomb core. (i'm not sure if it's available in the USA but it is available here in Australia)

Both of these are Alcan products.

The last is Symonite http://www.symonite.com.au/index.htm which is an Australian product similar to Alucobond. Again I don't know if it is sold in the USA. The only downfall is it is only available 4' wide.

I don't know the cost of these yet but I think they are worth looking into.

Bo.
