Winter camping? any one do it? ..below..20

How about it, any of you guys as crazy as me and camp in really cold temps. I have a small walmart electric heater and a black cat propane tent heater for if there in no electric.....What do you all use?

Yup ... Im game.. Were used to the cold and snow.. Last winter I built my tear in the cold and sure will go camping in our tear this winter..

So far we have a new ceramic heater that works real nicely with thermostat control. And safety switch.

Coldest we have been is 30 at night. We used an electric blanket. Worked real well. We just don't camp in that cold to often. Ken

I've camped at temps near zero F. Nice and toasty thanks to the forced air furnace, similar to the one Mike has.

I cant wait to take mine out this winter( first winter with my tear) when it gets real cold. We usually go backpacking and sleep out under the stars on the what we hope is the coldest day of the year. So cold weather tear camping should be a breeze.

Scott I missed the last one by 4 days. Was buttoning on the roof the day of Missisinawa. I'm good to go, Where we headed and are we electric or not ????

I used to go camping & backpacking all year round with the Boy Scouts. Many sub-zero overnights. Haven't been as regular for the past 5-6 years since my son got his Eagle Award.

We (wife & I) are going this Thursday (Thanksgiving) thru the Sunday. Not sure how cold it will be, hope its warm. The weather was great last Thanksgiving at Petit Jean SP.

This year we're heading down to Devil's Den SP in Arkansas. May travel over to Petit Jean SP to see the Fur Trappers re-enactment, or down to Queen Wilhelmina SP to check out the scenery there. Or maybe over to Eureka Springs to walk around & get a few meals.

Taking our hiking boots, bicycles & kayak. Hope we don't capsize!

We have an electric ceramic heater & a propane heater and some good sleeping bags.

Joe you might try Mt Magazine the view is great on a clear winter night. At about 2800' You can see state lines from there.Check with the campsite reservations for the few spots they have. Boy that sounds great

Here is a pic of the shelters we have in the National Parks and Up in the Fells of Lapland for winter camping..perfect to park the tear under or next to.

The shelter has some resemblance to the "Earth Lodges" of the Mandan & Hidatsa Indians of North & South Dakota...
