I'm having a hard time comming up with a good design for my side doors!! I would like to have an aluminum frame, as well as an aluminum edge on the door. I want my tear to look like it was factory made. I know that overlapping the door is an easier way to do it, but I like the looks of a flush side door. Thanks, Dan

That's the basic trim that I've been finding also, but was hoping there was some available that was strictly for making doors. I would like to find something that has provisions for a seal. Dan

Sorry I can't offer much in terms of door trim as I am not yet building and likely won't be until spring.

Based on your other projects on your website I'm eager to see the outcome of your build.

Nice work, the Jeep caught my eye and compelled me to check out the rest, love the '28 Dodge. The draught fridge conversion is what every shop needs, too cool.

Because I grew up in Saskatchewan I'm interested in where about in SK you picked the '28 up?

...we build with a flush door, with the seal on the inside of the door...we have looked and looked and SO FAR the only place to buy such extrusions directly is from the folks at Camp-Inn (their door kit)...it is a bit pricey...we have looked far and wide(and continue to doso) for a readily available "Z" extrusion to do this with and have found only one place...yellowdogextrusions...after repeated attempts to contact them, we have never heard back from them...to get past this hurdle, we built our own door jambs(frame) with 2 pieces of 1x1x1/16 aluminum angle...we cut one leg down to 1/4" and lay them over each other to form a "Z", with the outer 1/4" leg capturing the outer edge of the wall and the inner leg exposed to put the seal (from TrimSeal) on.

The door itself...we take a piece of 3/4x3/4 channel and cut both legs down to 1/4" and wrap the door withit...to see all of this, click on the WWW button at the bottom of this post and it will take you to my photobucket album...look in the sub-albums on the left of page for door jambs.........

Thanks for the pics mike!! I was on your album before I posted this question and saw your pictures. That's sort of what I want to do, but I want rounded corners. I think I'm going to fabricate my own from aluminum angle and flat bar, and just weld everything together. Being north on the border in Canada is a PITA to get specialty stuff . It's impossible to source a "Hurricane Hinge " up here, so I think I will use a stainless piano hinge with a seal. Not my first choice but it will work. Dan

If you want rounded corners look at the door shape on a Camp-Inn. Our door frame kits that Jack mentioned are all prebent and come with the template for cutting the door out. And, yes we can ship UPS to Canada.

Have you checked with Grant Whipp from Little Bear or George at the Teardrop fix it shop about their hurricane style hinges to see if they will ship into Canada?

Hey there, Dan!

I ship my "better-than-hurricane" Galley Lid hinge to Canada all the time ... via USPS (no UPS surcharge!). It costs about $5 more than in the states, and you have to put up with Customs taking their sweet-a$$ time clearing the package, but I send several sets a month up. Let me know if I can help!
