Bumper Holder Design Help

I was looking at the idea of starting on the bumper for our tear.. so
as I have a good radius on the hatch lower section I measured the under frame out and it has to come out about 10.5 inches in order to pass from hitting the hatch when opening.

So from under the back frame I need to come down 1st 2 inches and then out the 10.5 inches.

Can someone please assist in drawing a holder or plate that could be installed under the frame with 2 or 4 screws or small mushroom type bolts that could be installed or bolted to the main bumper.

and then the question is as how to connect it to the bumper itself.

So this is what Im doing at the moment.

I have an idea of using 2 plates the width of the frame 2 x 2 inches on either side. And with a possibilty to swing the bumber down when parked or camping and then being able to pull it into position when on the road.

Seems you could use a couple of 'receiver hitch' arrangements to attach and detach a bumber. Of course they could be alot lighter duty than an actual receiver hitch.

Seems you could use a couple of 'receiver hitch' arrangements to attach and detach a bumber. Of course they could be alot lighter duty than an actual receiver hitch.

The only problem is we dont have them here.. as far as I know

You would only need to find 2 tubes (square or round - receivers are square) that one will fit inside the other. Mount the larger size under the tear to the frame and then slide the smaller one into the larger one. Of course you would have to drill a holes for pins to hold it together.

You could even bend the smaller piece that would be attached to the bumber to allow for your hatch if need be.

I concidered this bumper thing but i still want to incorporate the swing away continental kit / table on Chubby.

HOWEVER, If a deep legged piece of angle was aligned beside the frame and enough material was coped out of the horizontal leg of the angle it could be pinned or bolted to the frame in the upright position and upon parking swung down by removing the rear pins and just piviot on the front bolts this now vertical leg coud become a stabilizer system providing you are on somewhat level ground. Backing up should lock the stabilizer vertically and by pulling forward would free it to swing up and be pinned into the " bumper 'position.

Hi,

Here are some pictures of the bumper and sliding mechanism I made for my frame (yet to be welded up, but I'm seriously considering making it a priority). It will slide out so I can carry a small motorcycle and will swing down under the trailer when access to the galley is required. It took a bit of thought and a while to fabricate but it does what I want. The hole furthest from the bumper will have bolts and lock nuts through them that will allow the bumper to pivot there. The second set of holes closest to the bumper will have removable pins to allow the bumper to pivot out of the way.

If you use the receiver hitch idea, while at camp you could remove the bumper and make, or buy, all kinds of different attachments for it.
