Progress pics, new tear, the Guffman

Postby dguff » Thu Dec 20, 2007 8:29 pm

I have some progress pics on my new tear. I am calling it the Guffman. It is a 4 1/2' wide by 9' tear with a profile primarily based on a Grumman II from the design section.

Looks great, but the duct tape will never hold the fenders on at highway speed. Unless you use waaaay more duct tape. :R
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Nice vintage look. Where are the fenders from?

The wheels are 1935 Ford 16" wires with 600 by 16 tires from Coker tire. The fenders are 11" wide Kit style that I bought second hand (but unused)through ebay. I thought the duct tape would be good for up to 60 mph. Maybe not?

Should be ready in time for the next Dam Gathering in early May and maybe even before that. I will certainly be there for Redwoods 2. Weather permitting I will be taking the '36 woody to Death Valley for New Years.
