Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I was wondering if someone could clue me in on attaching beaded ply panels to the exterior of my tear? the exterior is now plywood and I was going to use alum. on it but am considering the 1/4 " beaded ply board, mostly for looks. Should this be glued or could it be floated by just letting the trim hold it in place. Thanks

I'd say if it's wood, you don't want to float it...too much opportunity for moisture to get behind it. I'd laminate it with epoxy, or at the very least seal both surfaces with something like CPES and then glue. It's a perfect moisture trap and potential problems down the road. Just my opinion. Doug

...agreed, I would epoxy the bead board in place..................................

Thanks guys, do you have any certain epoxy in mind?

I'm partial to West Systems, but check the sticky in this heading regarding epoxies. There is a lot of info there, and I certainly wouldn't recommend one over another. Don't have the background to do that, just what I've found that works for me. Doug

Just as Doug is partial to West, I am partial to RAKA...it's just what we've used in the past.......................

...by the way...you don't actually have to coat out the entire piece...do a 6" stripe all around the edges and a couple thru the center...you can use brads or staples to hold it in place or screw it on , then remove the screws after the epoxy has cured...........

Also...make sure you seal up all the edges completely, doors, windows, lower edge and any edge that moisture can possibly get to. If it can get in...chances are it will. The extra effort will keep your tear in good shape for a long time to come. Doug
