Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

After a lot of planning, we finally starting building "the comet." You will understand the name when we are done with it. its basically a 4x8 benroy. Here are some pics, there are more in my gallery.



This is our progress at the end of day one, folding trailer successfully converted into a teardrop frame!



End of day two, got the subframe installed. we had the wrong screws to put the floor on, so that will have to wait.



End of day three, its finally starting to look like a trailer. It seems like its going to be plenty roomy, haha!

Well Ha and Ha That looks like a really good start. I would put some 90 degree something from the walls to the floor to keep the walls in line. Cut outs from the sides usually work.

I would hate such fast progress to be delayed by crooked walls. Once you get the bulkheads in you don't need bracing.

Gage, as far as i can calculate, the fenders should clear just fine. We spent a lot of time thinking about the door position and size and changed some dimensions from the generic plans. Hopefully we havent overlooked anything.

M, we are putting the bulkhead in next saturday, it should be fine until then.

Hey everyone, we finally got some more work done on the comet after taking a couple weeks off. The cabinets are ready for doors, and next is the electrical, just waiting for one more order to get in.



Thats me measuring for about the 20th time, figuring out exactly where the cabinets go!



Putting the face panel on the inside cabinets.



And there are the galley cabinets. The little box on the left holds some electrical boxes, hence the cutout. We figured we should put one on the other side to make it symmetrical, that one has a flip top on it and we will use it to hold little things like matches and whatnot. We also had to install the right one to cover up a hole we cut in the firewall that we decided we didnt need anymore.

Where's all the empty beer cans at?

Way to go guys. Looking like a Teardrop huh. I loved it when my walls went up to stay.

Keep up the work and boxes to cover unneeded holes is good design.

Warpony - we decided that the combination of power tools and empty beer cans might not work out so well for us. I currently have all 10 fingers and would like to keep it that way. we make enough mistakes without the beer, i think we would be much further behind with empty cans all over the place.

We do of course break out the beer when we are done, thats when most of the really good ideas come up. Like putting in a moonroof! And painting it like a piranha so it looks like it is chasing the car!
