O.K. now that I figured out the pic problem (I think), may next pain in the butt question is axle position. I looked at the spead sheet in the library, but since I really don't know the weight of everything I may or may not be putting on. I was hoping to put a small refer in the galley, and put on a small tongue box (12"x 36"), just for little items. I have a 9' frame. I was thinking about 42" from the butt would be about right. Any thoughts (please keep the razzin' to a minimum )

Satch...42" is pretty close. I start out with 43 on a 10' frame, and adjust for the look I want. The other thing to consider is door placement/ wheel size and fender style if using glass fenders. You don't want to "crowd" the fenders to the door or the aft end, and make it not look pleasing. Road appeal is a big part of it all. I'm sure people won't agree with my thought process, but I build for the overall look and appearance. To me, it doesn't matter what the math says, if it doesn't look right I don't do it. Of course this is all within reason. I figure I can load it so that it all works out in the end. A couple of inches here or there on axle placement can be easily adjusted for with loading when it is all said and done. Just my opinion. Doug

...our last build was a 9'er...the axle is placed at 42"s on it...I do have a PetCool and a full sized propane tank on the tongue but also have a rack that fits a 2" receiver on the rear that offset that extra tongue weight(sometimes too well)....my general rulle of thumb is to start at 36"s on an 8'er anf go up 4"s for each additional foot...I went 6"s on this build because, I won't always have the rear rack inplace...keep in mind that you have a good bit of leway in this...as long as you have somewhere near 10% upto 20% of total weight on the tongue, you should be fine...

Thanks, D, MJ, I still need to do my lay out of the sides (hell, I"m not sure what profile I'm using) I don't intend to go overboard on the "frills",keep it simple. Where I camp is only an hour from my house, so it's not like I'm goiing cross country, hell with all the mods, the frame might be 80% of the weight. I think the best approach is to build the floor and walls' not bolt it on yet, and see how it all lines up. You guys are the "bomb"!
