Fantastic Fan install (pictures too)

Just thought I would post this for prosperity reasons

The hole cut out. As you can see the trim is an issue.



So, I added trim around the hole to have the fan sit on a level surface. I decided this would be easier that trying to remove the cross trim already on the TD.



Glued, screwed and clamped down.



Stain and 1 coat of urethane on.



After 2 more coats of urethane I installed the fan using the foam gasket piece that comes with the Fan. I caulked around the edge and screws holes.

Now, all that is left to do is pray it does not leak.

Seriously folks this is a Fantastic Fan... I mean it really is a GREAT fan , and well worth the price.

I purchased it from ADOHEN SUPPLY CO @ http://members.aol.com/fantasticvent/. Make sure you tell them it is for a Teardrop or TTT. They called me and got exact dimensions of the roof thickness and cut the interior flange to fit. Also they modify the open/close knob so it does not hang down to far and become a head knocker. The fan comes with an installation sheet with color pictures that leaves you with no doubt on how to install it.

I have used my fan much more than the a/c. It's quieter and makes hot Texas summer night very pleasant. Good choice.

Hey Mary, I like the color contrast of your ceiling and side walls. Looking great

I have a Fantastic Fan and it does a great job of moving air in and out. Last October for the Hoosier camp out it was in the 90's and it worked out well with no A/C.

I've put in Fantastic Vents in all my tears! It's not AC, but fits the bill for just about any builders out West. You guys back East and down South need to decide if it works for you, everyone is different...however. You can sleep with it running full tilt, no grinding and cycling like an AC. Minden 05 was pretty hot and muggy...and it worked great! Like TonyJ sez: Not only does it suck, but it blows too!

I cut hole in my ceiling today for my fantistic fan. Drilled hole in each corner from top. Then I connected the dots and cut from inside with a jig saw. Then, cleaned up the cut with a flush trim bit in my router. Lot's of sawdust in my eyes. (my top bearing pattern bit threw a bearing.)

Doug, I do have a back up plan for an AC, but it gets so miserable here, May through Aug, that I figure those will be off months for me camping.
