Foot room?

I am playing around with ideas and I came up with one except it takes away from the standard 17" height for foot room, and I was wondering what you guys had in that area, and if it was comfortable to you.

This plan, inspired from the Benroy and many others I have seen, I think is sweet because it puts the electrical raceway accessible to the bedroom and galley via the same tunnel, and also it is 3/4 lower than the underside of the galley counter, which enough to drill a hole for the cables to go to the battery box that will be in the galley. This way everything will be hidden, and all in one place, even the screws. The galley counter screw heads will be inside the raceway and the lower raceway box screws will be deep under the galley. It's all about hiding the screws now!

This plan leaves 14" of foot height where the raceway is which I am not happy about. I am guessing I will only be as deep as 10" MAX. After that the height jumps up to 20" well above the minimum, so the small height won't go to the front of the cabinets, but I am still unsure if it will be too low for those last 10". I am not sure if raising the galley counter an inch or so to compensate is a viable option too.

Looking for other input, good, bad, it's all good.

That's like the first Benroy I built. If you can make your TBD dimension a little smaller, that would help. But 10" from the mattress to the raceway is tight, no matter how you look at it. I'm not sure but I don't think I could turn over in 10". My foot would get stuck! The 16" dimension looks fine!

Just going by memory, (I'm not home right now) I think I have 18in. Works out fine for my size 10 1/2 feet.

Mine is 18" too. You don't need it that deep. mine is 6" deep but that is because my A/C hoses run in it too. The only deep part of mine is where the stereo is mounted in the middle. If you want to hide screw's use pocket screws.
Ahhh the planning!!! It took me 6 month's in CAD before I got the plan the way I wanted it. It's like putting a puzzle together. ;)

I would also eliminate the top of the cabin cabinet and let it be open to the ceiling. You gotta use every sq inch in these tiny trailers.

What would happen if you turned the inside face into a 45 deg. angle?

Your drawing indicates that the 14" is from the floor to the bottom of the raceway. Is that correct? What about mattress thickness, assuming that horizontal line that you've cut with your dimension lines is the mattress top. It might only leave you with 10" of vertical space for your feet depending on it's thickness. Doug

Here is my Benroy Raceway. Its about 4"x4" and thats all the space I needed in there.

Here you can see I used PVC as a conduit from the galley to the raceway.

I hope this helps.

Thanks guys man, I am not thnking, I was wondering why Mike was talking about 10" when it is 14" from the floor to the bottom of the raceway, and DOH! Yeah ahhh... there's that little mattress thing in there too... This will definitely not work then. I was thinking all screwed up. Wheew you guys save again...

MK, what is your distance from the floor (not the mattress) to the bottom of your raceway?)I love this design, so I will make it work but yeah, that's gonna be too shallow with my plans fer sher haha

I think it's 16" from the bottom of the raceway to the floor.

But I am short and my feet don't get under the raceway.

Yeah, that is actually another shelf on top, I figured a tall shelf is kinda wasted space because how high can you really stack t shirts and stuff, so I split it. Here's a front view of my plans with no heights:
