Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

We've had our TD out several times last summer and have been quite warm in it (even though it gets chilly at night). Matter of fact we leave the vent open and the fan running.

We have a foam mattress and I've noticed that after each trip the underside of the mattress is moist.

I insulated the trailer walls and doors have have not noticed any condensation.

I did NOT insulate under the floor. It's a 3/4 sheet of plywood.

So I'm wondering is the moisture from condensation of the warm mattress on a cold floor or is this just the nature of foam mattresses?

My mattress is foam and it is never damp under it. My floor is insulated - 1/2" plywood with 3/4" ridgid foam underneath. I did not coat the insulation, but I know lots of folks do and it might help it stand up to road debris better.!

No insulation under my floor and never had a problem with moisture on the floor.

This would be a good question for a poll. Insulated or not. condensation or not, etc. I usta live on a small boat and had a little mildew under all the cushions if I didn't prop them up every now and then and let the condensation dry out. So I insulated my TD floor, not because anyone else did or didn't but because I wanted to and because when the surf is up, and there is a sea breeze, I can hear the ocean from my house, clear over here in the getto

My 1/2" plywood floor is insulated with 3/4" rigid foam on the exterior, and covered with linoleum on the interior. I've never had moisture under the foam mattress.

If you were to insulate, would you put it inside the tear or under?

I was noticing you have about 1 1/5 to 2 inches from the bottom of the door frame to the inside floor, and that there is plenty of room in the frame under the floor

How thick is your foam?

it is less than ten bucks, so why not and not have to worry about it. It will cost much more if you rot your floor.

I put 3 1/2" fiberglass insulation below my 3/8 plywood floor, before I knew better. I then sealed the whole underside with 1/4" plywood which was shot with LineX truckbed liner. Bad move. Now I fear that any moisture that gets into this area will be there forever. Dry rot, here I come.........Hmmm, maybe I could drill a hundred holes in the interior floor to allow it to dry out if this happens.
