Aluminum carpet moulding as rim

I have been buying various aluminum moulding at Lowes (big box lumber yard) I wandered through the carpet department this evening and noticed the aluminum nose molding and various other aluminum carpet and vinyl floor mouldings. Cheaper than the aluminum in the hardware dept. I bought a few 8 foot pieces to experiment with. Eight bucks a piece seems cheap. The 6 foot pieces were 12 bucks, go figure.
