Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I notice most of the builds do not have a window in the front of the TD. Is there some reason a front window is not that common? It seems to to me it would be a great option to have for improved circulation and natural light inside the cabin. What are the pro and cons of a front window and are there any structural concerns other than placing the spars/framing in the right place to have the proper size opening. Also, what size restrictions (or anything else for that matter) should I consider? If I'm going to utilize a front window, its about time to purchase it, so I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

I have a front window in mine and I have no issues with it at all from a structural point of view. Even though I'm not finished yet I'm so glad I have it, it's large, opens, has a flyscreen and lets in heaps of light. I cant see any downside.

I've got one too. I had ones in previous builds and have had no problems with them.



One reason some Tears have cabinets in the front section.

Not a good reason, but a reason.

unlike a stand up trailer, the insides of a tear are typicaly only good for sleeping. Not much need for more windows at night Personaly, I think it ruins the sleek look of a teardrop to have a big window and protruding cover in the front.

I have cabinets and a closet up front so a window would do no good for me. But I do have a large sun roof on top.

I really like my front window and it works well with my non-traditional trailer. Were I to build a traditionally shaped trailer I doubt I would have a front window. Purely an asthetic decision. If you build a front cabinet then the front window is pretty well out of the question. The nice thing about building your own trailer is that you can include any feature that you are capable of crafting. (That's why I don't have fancy cabinets. I can't build them. )

I really am happy that I put front windows in.............light, a great breeze and I can look out the front if I hear something strange without getting out. The crank out windows are great for a rainy day.



Closed postion is a shutter and protects windows from rocks, etc while towing.


Open position it's now an awning when I'm in camp.

I like it both ways. I would have put one in mine, but I decided to make more interior storage instead. Can't get enough of that. And I'm happy.

Hmmm, cabinets for storage or windows, cabinets for storage or windows, cabinets for storage or windows. Decisions... Got it! mount an infrared camera on top that is remote directional. That way you see what goes bump in the night on the video screen without having a window. Voila! more storage. Just thinkin' out loud.

Oh yea, and watching the looky loos, while they stroll past your camper pointing at it.

Ooooo, and it's a CAMEC windout, too! Way cool, Steve! Just out of curiousity, why didn't you put 'em in the door(s) as well? Windouts (crank-outs to us Yanks) always give better ventilation ... ... and those CAMECs with the radiused bottom corners are just totally retro! Too bad we can't get 'em here to the states for something close to reasonable prices ... I've tried (but my name isn't Fleetwood, like that would make any difference!) ...

The door windows are Camec as well but sliders, I thought about windouts but I'd have to close them everytime I open the doors, and the sliders are cheaper too The front window was $6 from ebay but the sliders I could only get new.

I put one in mine and I love it. It doesn't open but at least I can look out and see what's there!

I also have a front window. No problems we love it.

I put a front window in mine. I love it...good for a cross breeze and for seeing what's out there...
