Buying my trailer frame tomorrow...quick question

I have read several posts about floor thickness and weight but don't see any walkthroughs or posts about what is the best way to actually mount the plywood to the frame.

I know it's probably be discussed, I just couldn't find it, could someone direct me to a dscussion or photos on how to mount a floor?

Thanks!

depends on the trailer spec. Do you have an Idea about that? Its a good strarting point for discussion

My frame is 2x2 tube, I welded 3" long pieces of 1.5" x 3/16" thick angle iron with a 3/8 hole in it and used it to through bolt the flood down with carrage head bolts that were recessed to be flush. I use 12 mounts with 3/8" bolts.

Which Frame are you going with? That will help in the connection methods available.
The next question is the cabin over the wheels or flush with the trailer frame on the outside walls.
Wall construction?

The trailer we used is a Tractor supply Company 4X8 no floor . I used a sub floor because two sheets of flooring ply was used and I didn’t want them to flex. Just bolted down through the 2 X3 from the top and also from the side of the frame rails (used four per side for a total of eight Image

Sorry about that, telling you the frame type would help....

I am using the Harbor Freight 4 X 8 and the plan I have keeps the walls within the wheels/fenders

No problem.

I think faster than I type most of the time.

Looks like you are going good on the flooring. Did you mark and make recesses where the bolts of the HF trailer frame stick up from the frame on the bottom of your flooring. Also the water/weatherproofing of the bottom of the ply to the frame. Type of coating are you using to seal your ply with?

Good Job by the looks!

Deacon, most people treat the bottom and bolt or screw the plywood down. You can also use something to caulk the framing if you want.

I put evil smelling black goo in the holes after I drilled them. Just held a gloved finger over the hole and filled it up with a baggy. Nice and coated, but messy.

I used the HF trailer and built a frame of 2x2s covered with 1/2" plywood. Just put 6 bolts through the plywood, 2x2s and frame. You might want to shim under the crossmembers (at least in the back to keep it straight across for the galley to seal against. Or you could notch the crossmemer 2x2s about 1/16" and make the side 2x2s 1/16 thinner on the vertical dimension. Hope that all made sense.

Here's a picture from the Cubby plans that shows the type I am talking about:

Coat it with asphalt emulsion and flip it over, then attach.

I must be starting to get this toy because I think I understood. What you meant was to recess the one crossmember a little forward to allow the lip of the galley to sit....was that right?

Ok So I bought the trailer. I am going to chronicle the build on my website www.bikerpets.com. I will have a page dedicated to the teardrop, the trike build.
