attaching floor to frame help needed

Postby tbeau » Mon Apr 14, 2008 7:13 pm

I have finished painting my frame, this week end I plan on attaching my floor to the frame. I plan on using advantec lumber and attaching it directly to the frame. What is the best way of attaching it?

the trailer is upside down in this pc but I included it to show ho the frame was made.
I plan on running 2x3 along channels on outside.

I do believe I would put a 1/4" sheet of exterior plywood under the Aventech and glue them together with construction adhesive. Other than that the Aventech folks recommend the following: Apply fasteners 3/8" from panel edges. Space fasteners 6" o.c. along supported edges. Countersunk 1/4" flat head machine screws would be a good choice. That should make a nice looking floor. I used oak parquet, but never see it because a mattress is on top of it, so the parquet is just added weight.

I use these Deck Screws they work quite well and no crawling under and putting the washers and nuts on!

Why would you add the plywood?

Scratch that plywood sheet nonsense, I was thinking the Aventech was a plank type flooring material... That looks like a pretty waterproof flooring.

Ok so far everyone is saying screws are enough. What type glue is good for metal to wood? I am thinking for the 2x 3's inside the outside channels.

I welded angle tabs to my frame for 3/8" through bolts. My reasoning is I didnt want to put any holes in the tube frame, and I just dont quite trust deck screws.
