Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

We are nearing D-day of 5-23 weekend in Door Co. WI. The lil babe is shelled in and waiting for the roof skin. We are following Mike's idea for the roof vent and I need to decide how big to cut the hole for the air conditioner vent. I cut a hole 3x13 and have concern if that is enough. Keep in mind this is a chase from the floor through the top. I also have concerns of driving rain being blown in past the unit into the cabin. Any ideas for us? Thanks

We got a camera full of pics but we are working feverishly to git 'er dun that I haven't taken the time to figure that out yet. Besides that our son decided he wanted to get married this weekend. Sorry bout that but I will try soon.

What the heck are you talking about? You want help and can't even take a little time to post a pic. I guess I need to go to Mind Reading School so I'll always know what the problem is and how to help.

Well not knowing exactly what the problem is, but that he is worried about the rain. He should either vent it out through the floor with louvers or into the galley. What size hole? As big as you can make it.

Or if he has the AC in the front like the Escape Hatch, he needs good weather stripping...

But since he is talking about a hole 3x13 or so, I suspect he either saw a picture of the Lil Diner or my first little black benroy. In either of those two cases, he will find that there is not enough air flow.

On the Lil Diner I had to open up a hole on the side... and on the black benroy I had to remove all the wood around the ac, and keep the hatch open at night.

Mike is correct in that I saw the pictures of the Lil Diner on the Camping Classics website. I then communicated w/Steve, He indicated more air is needed. If I cut the roof open to about 8x13 Will that suffice or is the Side air more important keeping in mind the 3x13 chase going all the way through the floor? Now it's time to get to work on posting those pics. By the way, the wedding last night was wonderful. We had the reception @ the Brewers Miller Park. And the Brewers won over the Marlins. Lots o fun!!

Good luck on your build and be sure and have fun in Door County. We took a trip to Door County last fall and stopped by Camp-Inn's super factory in Neceddah. After visiting with Carrie and seeing how teardrops are built, it was the inspiration needed to start our own. Now that ours is almost finished, we hope to return to Door County soon with our tear in tow behind our street-rod.
