I hope this is not obvious, but I haven't seen much about insulating TD's. Are they? Is there a need for heaters? I've seen TD's with air conditioners and roof vents and fans, but not many heaters. Can someone address this for me? One thing I don't like about camping in a tent, I seem to always be cold.
Thanks,
Curious Cindy

Welcome aboard – it is a matter of personal preference and geography. I carry an air conditioner in the summer (Hot in Texas) and heater in winter. Our camper is insulated with foam insulation mainly against the Texas heat. I must confess that we have used the heater very little and are considering an electric blanket instead.

I insulated as well. I live in NC. and find it useful in the southeast in general.
I use the A/C all the time in the spring, summer and fall. If it is not below 50 we use the A/C. Body heat is a killer.
I also have a heater. It is a 120v electric wall heater that we only use to warm up the tear before we hop in. We usually turn it off as soon as we are in.
The best thing about the insulation is that it keeps the inside of the walls from sweating.

We have foam board insulation in the walls, floor and roof in our teardrop, I picked up a small 12 volt ,300 watt car warmer and installed it under the rear storage area. on a late october fishing trip in Jasper, we woke up to a inch of snow on the ground and a temp. around 30 degrees. we only turned the heater on after we made breakfast and ate inside.

Okay, great to know. Now I feel better. On the northwest coast I would use the heater a lot and keeping the inside from sweating is of course a plus.
Thank you always for being there, giving me good answers and options too. I love it.
Thanks,
Cindy

It will keep it cooler in Summer, warmer in Fall and dryer -preventing most if not all condensation inside...

I have been building a Cubby and Kevin H. recomended the insulating panels
Was easy to do during the build, since Ilike the desert it works both in keeping it cool or adding to the warmth, secondary advantage, yesterday there was a poll about camping in your driveway or back yard, the fully insulated tear is is nearly sound proof...great for the afternoon nap.
