Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Has anyone here used an old pop up frame when building a teardrop? I have a frame from a Starcraft popup that I have cut down to 5 X 10 that I will build on.
Here's a pic of my foundation,

We also started with a pop-up but did not take it down to the frame. Check our album for ideas. We are at the camp-able stage with just the fine tuning.

Nice Kathleen. Looks like someone got off the computer. Does that also mean you guys will be at Table Mountain next month and are you signed up for the IRG? Must have all kinds of room in that sucker.

Gage, I like the effie in your signature line, is this your tow vehicle? I plan to pull my TD with a Mercedes diesel powered 53 F100.

yep, mine is built on one. (small trailer not a teardrop)

daveleb55, that is some nice work . The popup that my frame came from was way too far gone for me to try and save, I think it had been set up and forgot for years, so the water damage ws severe.

Kathleen insisted that the one design criteria was being able to fit a queen size bed in it. It does fit, barely, crossways, as the width is around 6 1/2 feet. There are a few feet of space between the bed and the front wall to put a couple chairs. The Bed is inflatable, and has a section that lifts up to make additional seating. When finished (whenever that may be!) can seat 4 people comfortably around a small table.
Floor to ceiling height is 4 1/2 feet, not enough to stand up, but you can sit comfortable and put your pants on without being a contortionist.

I've started the hatch lighting and wiring for the interior. Next projects are to insulate and put in a roof vent or two.

Nah, we aren't going to table Mountain or the IRG this year, too many other things going on, and a lack of fundage is putting a crimp in our plans as well. There is a gathering at Calico in October we plan to go to, and also "Beatty Days", as well as Carson city in June. Trying to stay close to home this year.

Jeff, ours is built on an old pop up that my brother had already stripped. We love it. Nothing like rolling over to make the coffee.


A part of me wishes I hadn't raised it and had put the bed over the wheels. It sits pretty high. If I had to do it over the door would be up front and the bed in back.

Yep, I'm using a stripped 1951 Bethany Chief frame

Take a look at Andrew/Grant's Campster 12 design. I've got a pop up trailer frame that appears to be ideal for that design. I've had intentions of doing the Glen-L Sequoia on it, but couldn't get enthused enough to actually start. The Campster design has got me going again tho!

A while ago I did a modification of the Widget to fit on a pop-up frame





This frame was 93.5" long x 76" wide, but the design could be adapted to anything similar. There's a Widget in my Hall of Fame with a similar layout: Ron's Widget.

I wish I had taken photos of my Wheel Camp frame before I started on it but it looked just like this http://tnttt.com/viewto ... c&start=15 and was the same size(bottom photo) I cut it down to 5x8 and redid the tounge. Take a look in my album at what I ended up with. I needed a wider axle so I got one from Northern Tool. Enjoy.
