I saw some small (12"H x 24"W) residential windows on sale that I was thinking might work for my teardrop. These windows slide open sideways and have a screen. Since they are obviously residential windows, could these be used on a travel trailer? I am new to tear drop construction, but am thinking that the size and the sidways sliding might work out for me.

How thick are these windows ? You don't have 4" walls on a tear. I used surface mounted storm windows on mine. I mounted them flange inside and siliconed and trimmed them out works great,

Um... flang? You mean with a flange? Or flush? ??

Very cool, Bob!
In answer to Gymguy, my only concern with using residential windows would be the lack of safety glass. I got my windows from a truck cap supply place - crank out rather than sliding.

I got mine from a salvage yard and the other from an RV salvage. Way cheaper than Ebay.
I share the concern for having auto safety glass. It is not a bargain if a rock goes through it and you have to replace it.

I hadn't thought of the possibility of the glass being broke by a flying rock while driving down a gravel road. The windows are only $27.00 and I know that I can trim them out to work.

just a personal note, I prefer swing out windows because I can leave them open a bit, leave and not worry about rain.
