Anybody have a good source for galley hatch struts, I have a customer that wants one on the custom unit I am doing for him. I have been using the primitive dowel system on my other units.

Try NAPA or some other auto parts store.

I got my star-wheel type hatch supports from Austin Hardware and I'm happy with them.

If you want the gas type, www.mcmaster.com has a nice selection, and lots of different mounting options.

Got mine off ebay. There is a guy on there selling struts of all sizes and weight capacities, usually for around $20 a pair. I think his user name is "ohopbob". Mine work great.

The part# is AH 716 AA ZN. They have them in lots of different lengths. I ended up cutting mine down for an exact fit.

I used the star wheel type from Allegis Hardware (#6228 locking $9.90 each). When opened fully and locked, two holes line up and you put a 1/4" bolt or pin through them so the hatch can't fall down. Works great!
