Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Got the sidewalls cut and squared off today. they are 1/2" birch ply (not 3/8 like i thought they were)


anyways i didnt have my camera with me at the time so no pics just yet, i will say that it will be a shame to paint this wood, it is a very nice looking grain.

Now i have a hatch question.. first a little pic i just done up in mspaint..



blue is the sidewall

yellow is the innerwall

red is the hatch

the black line is the profile of the rear and will be the entire hatch

the blue line is the right angle from hinge to hatch end.


The end of the hatch is about a degree shy of 90 and i am thinking of doing the overlap style seal on the ends instead of the T molding. is that too much angle for that style of galley hatch?

i realize that with that angle the foam insulation (black square) would likely rub away and rubber molding might be best.

basically am i going in the right direction on this?

when the hatch is open i dont want a lip on the rear and with this design the hatch will meet up level with the floor.

for a seal there i am thinking of the door threshold sweep that looks like 5 or so windshield wiper blades.
