Covering the sides SHEET ALUMINUM IN OVERLAPING SECTIONS

I see a lot of newly namufacter trailers on the raod build on the old U-Haul shape. The sides are covers in sheet alum. The seams are verticle and overlap. It looks like the sheetd are attached with pop rivets.

Anybody thinking about covering the sides like this?

Since most of those trailers are semi monocoque (stressed skin over frame) they have to do that. The skin acts as a gusset for the frame. We don't really have to because our trailers have a shell, which is then skinned over with metal. Also since most teardrops are only 4ft tall and 8 to 10ft long, one piece of aluminum will cover the whole thing. You won't have to piece together the aluminum.
