No finish exterior plywood available?

Postby jp03 » Tue Jun 17, 2008 2:06 pm

Hi, about to start on the floor. Was looking for acx (exterior glue with one finished side), but not available anywhere so far. Lumber yard cannot even order baltimore birch plywood? So I maybe limited to standard roofing plywood, (bcx) and a birch 1/4 inch plywood. Will they hold up, is the question? Marine plywood for the floor, oh boy, have to travel like 40 miles for it in NJ.

I had trouble getting good plywood here too. Finally went to a small lumber yard out of town. You might try some cabinet shops to get what you want. Some of the N. Easterners will chime in here soon I hope.

Try asking for BALTIC BIRCH PLYWOOD
Woodworkers supply or cabinit shops should know what you're talking about.
1/2 is 9 ply great plywood very strong well worth the search.

Yeah ! Atlanticplywood.com is an importor of wood. Price of $24 per sheet. Pieces are 5 x 5 ft. only, 1/4 inch. Now I have to drive 80 miles one way to pick it up, after my order gets delivered. Started to wonder what I was to do. Should i use baltic birch 1/2 inch for floor, or go for marine plywood 1/2 inch? Also going to use 1/2 baltic birch for back wall, since I have to go through hoops to pick up the rest!
