missing HF trailer parts

Postby Georgeandpat » Fri Mar 04, 2005 3:37 pm

This is not a major problem for me but someone here probably knows the answer. When I got my Harbor Freight trailer it was missing one of the wheel bearing dust covers. Again, not that big a deal but has anyone here had to contact HF about missing parts? Was it a hassle to get them replaced? I thought I would just pick up another dust cover at the auto parts store but the size seems to be hard to match exactly.

I've had to deal with their customer service when a mail ordered item was missing a part before and I was pleasantly surprised that they were cooperative and sent the part. It was a little slow in coming but it got here. If I were you I'd call their customer service and see what they say.

They sent the wrong wheels to fit the hubs for mine. They couldn't do enough quickly enough. Recommend you call them.

If it's not broken, you're not trying hard enough.

If you have any problem getting one, I have some in a drawer out in the garage. Let me know and I'll send you one.

If you find a match for the bearing cover, please let me know.
I lost mine somewhere on some road, and right now I've got one that's a little too small held on with duct tape.

We have 2 other harbor freight trailer's..

Postby vinoscooter » Sat Mar 05, 2005 9:04 pm

here in town. both had the dust cover falling off problem..Both used chrome tape to hold them on,because it looked better. My HF trailer hasn't had this problem yet. But the chrome tape thing seems a cheap way to go.
The other thing i did was to replace the 2 trailer folding hinge's w/a solid 3/8 steel plate..Local welding shop made them for 10.00 for the pair...Trailer seems more stable, At least I have a little more peace of mind especially while towing w/heavy loads...If anyone has the folding trailer, eighther do the steel plate thing or better yet just weld it...The lighting system on these trailers is CHEAP.Mine will be replaced soon..Well there's my 2 cents worth..Take care... :applause:

I called Harbor Freight customer service and they are going to send me my missing part. I do have to pay for it because I purchased the trailer back in 2003. I guess that I should have called them as soon as I realized that it was missing because now they probably think I lost it on the road. It's hard to convince someone that this trailer is about 2 years old and has not been pulled yet. Only us teardrop builders would believe or understand that.
