Fiberglass - 178 pieces of wood later...

First you take 178 pieces of wood, a qt. of titebond, 20+clamps...and you got a hatch...
Here's some shots of the wetout of the hatch...first I cut the trim and temporaily clamped it in place...the trim goes on permanently after glassing
After finish sanding, I laid the 3.8 oz glass and smoothed it with a soft brush...this lightweight glass is tender to handle... the hatch is sanded to 120 grit, wet down to raise the grain, and resanded to 120
I typically wet out with a brush...
And squeegie the whole thing off at a low angle to get the excess epoxy off and make sure the glass isn't floating...
Tonight and tomorrow...fill the weave with another layer of epoxy...go fishing for king salmon at the 4 am high tide...roll on another layer of epoxy to build a sanding surface...glue the trim on...let dry...put salmon on to smoke ... and call it a weekend!!!
