Alternative to pop rivets

I'm not entirely enthralled with the prospect of using pop rivets to attach the edge molding for the galley hatch. What I am picturing in my mind somehow just isn't visually appealing to me. Any body have any suggestions on an alternative method?? I was thinking maybe if I could find the right length and size machine screws (?.... terminology) with some acorn style nuts, that might look a little better.

Does the fastner go all the way thru with access to both sides? You can probably use real rivets if you don't want to use pop rivets (aka blind rivets). You'll just have to find someone to lend you a rivet gun and bucking bar or rivet squeezer.

The Teardrop Fix It Shop sells Aluminum Drive Screws, for the rivet look but in a screw. (3/4 down the page)

If you're going for a really clean look, you might think about mirror screws. Typically a phillips head screw head with a cap that threads into the phillips recess in the main screw. I figure a little lok tite would keep the caps from vibrating out as you drive down the road.

Just an example, but you should be able to find these at any big box store.

HMMMMMMM!!!! Sex bolts!!! That may just be the alternative I'm looking for considering what I'm thinking about naming the Tear. It may not be very original; but lately it is appropos, considering it is coming between me and the girlfriend. How does "The Other Woman" sound???

As far as the two parts "screwing" together, it may have been awhile, but I still remember how it's done!!! Righy tighty, lefty loosey!!!
