Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Anybody have a source for small drawer slide, like 6 to 8" long? I'm at the galley build stage of my generic BR and I've shortened the drawers up as part of a modification to add a couple inches to the sleep side of the rig.
I'l make wooden ones if I have to, but I'm afraid they might tend to get wierd from vibration and moisture in this application.

Ken Fincher from the vegas tear build says he cut down his drawer slides to fit. Can't see in the picture, but you could P.M. him.....

Shoe, I don't knowabout BangHer but around here, the box and hardware stores offer a wide range of drawer slides...if unavailable to you, you might try one of the online hardware stores such as DoItRight or McMaster or ???...I used to recommend Austin but they seem to have lost their minds!!!!

I found those with a quick search, they were the only 8" ones I found. Could not find any shorter.

I'll eyeball some around the house and see if they can be cut down. All the local suppliers start at 10" or so and go up.

I'm going to use homemade wood on wood slides and candle wax... bureaus used this method for hundreds of years with no problems.... and you can design it to any size you want...... and it won't bounce around as much when traveling....

If you use a HDPE plastic in place of the wood slider you won't get any of the sticking from the humidity. Using HDPE for either the stationary bar on the cabinet wall or the sliding part on the drawer, or both sides if you want, will keep the drawer from sticking and you don't need any wax. Very durable and no maintenance.

I'd thought of a combination of wood and plastic. I did some 'net research for short metal slides but came up with little info in the short time I had between fitting galley panels together. Then I had a eureka moment and looked around the house at anything with drawers in it that we had. Lo and behold a bureau right at the foot of my bed provided the answer. It's wood on wood, dates from the '50's I believe and was bought by my parents back then. Simple as simple can be. A dado in the drawer side matches a strip of wood on the cab side. Should be easy as pie on the table saw even without a dado blade. I have some walnut left over from a kitchen countertop project that would make the slide part very nicely and not wear at all. I'd read all kinds of complicated (to me!) ways to build wooden slides that are great if you're building fine furniture but none of them looked easily doable to a rank amateur like me. Sometimes the simplest solution is right under our own noses.
Guess that old bureau has paid back it's asking price back in the Eisenhower days!

What is hdpe plastic, and where can it be purchased? I assume it comes in a variety of sizes...

Actuually, I have an old slightly warped plastic cutting board I can slice a few pieces out of..... should do the trick just fine.
