Trim length..need a seam?

My walls and galley were screwed and glued today. Phew. Now on to figuring the skinning.
I want to go aluminum. Problem is the roof line length requires a 9'9" piece to go from the front to the hinge. 8' seems the common dimension the top trim comes in. Can I butt two pieces together cleanly and make that work?
Longer pieces can be had for bigger shipping $$. Is that the best way to go and just bite the bullet?

You might find the longer moldings available locally from an RV dealer and
avoid the high cost of shipping. I found a local RV dealer that no only has
new parts but has a bunch of used parts he has salvaged at reasonable
prices. He stocks several moldings in lengths up to 20 feet.

Common practice in butting two pieces of molding is to cut each piece at a 15 deg angle. I did just that on the insert molding on TD#2 and it's hardly noticeable.

It may turn out to be both! I'm having a bear of a time finding 5' wide AL sheets. Initially my question was about the roof trim.
My local guys don't stock diddly, and what they do is the modern stuff that uses a vinyl(?) insert and that looks too modern for me. I want old fashioned simple trim.

Look in sdtripper2's Index at the top of the page. Scroll down to the Aluminum trim and The Teardrop Fix It shop should be there. They carry the trim your looking for. There's also resources on aluminum sheets listed there.

One of those dealers is only a few miles from me. I called them yesterday and they said can order trim. Now I can see what they are selling in that GO-RV catalog. Guess I better call them again. Trouble with this stuff is the distributor sells it to dealers in 10pc lots and I only need 2 pieces. Wonder what that will do to the price?
Grant is working up an order for me and he's a helpful guy. I may end up going that way anyhow.

I have an RV repair business and that is the same thing that I am running into. This trim is not exactly cheap. Let's see, 10 pieces, 20' each, that should be good for at least 5 teardrops. Guess I'll have the trim for the next build,and the next.

SAF has aluminum in 5'X10' sheets and are great to work with.
