A little different skin material

I just skinned my t.d. with painted stainless steel on the sides,and then decided to try something a little different for the roof. I used a door skin across the spars and covered that w/1/8" polyvinyl (I know this is not u.v.proof but provided a void-proof underlayment), and then streched a marine vinyl flooring (that is u.v. resistant) over that. It looks ok and hasn't bubbled at all. I didn't have my camera w/me during last build session but will post some picts. on my album within a day or so. I figured that if this doesn't work I can always pull it off and go over it with stainless steel, but if it does work it's another alternative material for us to play with. Any comments or experience with this flooring material?

Interesting...what product are you using, and/or how does the price compare with 1/8" birch? (just about $40/sheet where I got mine)

Hi David, I don't have a web site for the product because I purchased it from a local auto upholstery shop (shure-fit Tacoma WA). It is a marine vinyl flooring material comes in 74"x?. It's used for boats,docks,decks and patios. It's waterproof,u.v. resistant and durable. Cost was a little more than the plywood though,a little more than $200.00 for 74"x15" roll. Plenty for roof and hatch. I'm working this weekend but will try to post some picts in my album on Monday.

I too am thinking to use something a bit unusual. I will cover the top of my build with .030 rubber material we use for house roofing. It supposed to have a 30 year life expectancy .

I almost have the Frame rearranged and painted. So hopefully I'll be working on the flooring in few days.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys. Hi Mike, yeah I worked on the td until about 11:00 last night...got all my electrical wired into tounge box,batt box, fuse box, fan ,all except converter wired in and it works! I'm gonna attack that hatch next. Its probably the last major challenge. I found a site thats called Chevys of the 30's and 40's. and they have got some cool fender ideas. I will try to get some better photos of my roof for you.

looks nice chevys of the 40 and 50s are the ones in vancouver wa they are good people to deal with i got some parts for my 49 chevy thay ship fast and are very good people to work with aaa nice ttt u are doing
