Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I just received a set of wheel spacers for NAPSACK. They fit ok but they don't sit "tight" on the center axle. If I set them on then here is a gap between the center hole of the spacer and the bottom of the axle of about 1/4 inch. So here's my question....If I center them on the axle so that there is a 1/8 inch gap all the way around .... and put some glue/epoxy to hold them in place whilst I fit the wheel and tighten it down...will that be ok? I can't imagine that they will move once the wheel is tightened down so the glue is just enough to temporarily hold it in the correct place. Any thoughts/experience please?

I had a similar issue, My spacers had oval holes for the studs and slid around until the wheel is in place. I used pieces of double sided mounting tape to holed them where I wanted 'em til the wheels were on. Worked for me!

Yeah...if it worked for you it'll work for me. Nice trailer by the way...I also used vinyl for the roof.

dbizer, how is your td holding up without a rock guard on the front? any dings holes or rips?

Philip, sorry we're hijacking your thread. I've been watching your build and really like the way it's turning out. I kinda wish I would have used "bolder" color vinyl for the roof (Forest green or Burgundy), but felt something lighter colored would be cooler in the south Texas sun!!! I'm going to answer "Looped's" question and ask you one.

Haven't pulled my TD much yet, but I am concerned about rock damage to the vinyl. Funny thing is, just today I went by a friend's sheet metal shop to get him to make me a piece of "quilted" stainless for a rock guard. My thought is that the Stainless might resist dings a little better than aluminum and the weight difference should be minimal. So hopefully He'll have it ready for me to install it this weekend.

Philip, are you planing anything for the front of your's? If so, What? again your build is looking really nice!

Yea, I plan on some sort of a tongue box...I can't finalize a design right now...I just have some ideas kicking around. I want it to carry the spare wheel...I know that much...I guess the design will come to me in a flash of inspiration....yea, I even get those once in a while.

I'm trying to picture this, and the image I have is scary, so maybe I have misunderstood and need a correction...

Where is the tape? Between the spacer and the hub?
After the wheel is installed and nuts tightened, is the double-sided tape still separating the spacer from the hub, and thus keeping the spacer from seating solidly against the hub face? This sounds bad to me.

The double sided tape is about the same thickness as a piece of ordinary "Scotch" tape. I don't think that thickness will cause any problems with the lug nuts torqued down. The tape was just an easy way to keep the hub spacers centered properly, before the wheels were on.
