Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I have painted my teardrop and now a couple people have told me I should put a clear coat over it to protect the paint job. I went to The Home Depot and asked them and the only thing the guy showed me was a can of stuff to put on wood. I asked if I could use it over paint and we said he thought so. I turned the can around the the directions and it said "Remove all paint." So I put it back and decided to ask you guys.

Do you have a clear coat over your paint? If you do/don't do you have a suggestion of what to get and where to get it? About how much is it?

Boy what a difference that makes. Dianne, what kind of paint did you use. It might make a difference.

You might look at a can of Outdoor "Clear Shield" and see if it will go over paint.

Dianne, the clearcoat, most of us talk about, is an automotive product...in paint terms, it is very "hot" paint and may not be compatible with a house latex/oil base type paints...you would havvta check with manufacturer's to make sure...you find clearcoat at auto body and paint supply houses.........

Don't know what to tell you Dianne except TIE DYE ROCKS hahaha

I had my paint job / partial at least , done at a big car paint chain and learned that paint and clear coating there is time window procedure.
The guy at the auto parts store said too that certain clear coats are not compatible with 'regular' paint.

Maybe calling the home office Consumer Division for Behr or going to a Sherman Williams store might get you some knowledge and answers!

It would be expensive but Crystal Clear by Kylon would help preserve it I think -- I wonder if it comes in bulk or a can version instead of aerosol cans.
