question on door handles

so i was checking out a post from someone asking about door handles...while looking at them i got a little confused. The L-handle on grants page has a long rod that goes through the door...the rod part looks really long...how exactly does that install on a door that was made from 3/4" wall framing?? Do you cut it to what you need?

Thanks,

mandy

the latch has a square hole in it... you cut it (the square rod) to length... not a problem.. probably the easiest thing you will have to do.

Mandy , just make sure you are at a finished stage on your latches & door thickness before you cut the stem. If ya cut too short ,,,,,,,, Ohwell! 8)
Good luck on your build. :applause:

Mandy,

As Boodro said, don't get in a hurry to cut the square shaft. I got everything mounted and sealed and camped three or four times before I realized I should cut the things flush before I rolled over into one side or the other, would be a heck of a way to be woke up. A bit slow on my part, but it shows that there's no hurry.

Mandy,

No worries, if you cut it too short. If I remember correctly you have a welder in the family....

LOL...nice one Larwyn!! hehe

Thanks all...I was just once again trying to make something difficult out of something thats not...my mind works that way sometimes :)

I had REALLY wanted to use the paddle latches i have seen around..but my understanding is that you have to have a door that's 1 1/4" thick for the ones i have seen...as i am using 3/4" for the walls...and i am no math genius, but me thinks that wouldnt work.

I hope you carry spare batteries for the remote, be a major bummer to be out in the boonies and can't get in the tear :x

Looks like this guy has the same remote!
Look Ma! No door handles, or hatch handles!

Note: There are hidden pull wires for emergency entry in case the battery dies.

OH yeah,,,, us guys like remotes, great idea. With the handles from Grant make dare sure not to lock them from the inside and close the doors unless you in there to unlock them. The key dont work to unlock them when you press the inside button. Other than that they are cool.
