trailer capacity

I have built a 4x8 foot cubby on the 1800lb Harbor Freight trailer and its total weight came out to 670 pounds. It seems to bounce a bit. I am going to build a second Cubby and am wondering (asking) if there is a way to soften the ride of a light trailer like this, or what are the feelings on building one on a lighter capacity Harbor Freight trailer?? Thanks.

You could take out a leaf in the springs and maybe add shocks to the trailer to reduce the bounce. I would think either would help and both together should make a major difference. Could be done for well less than a hundred dollars.

Taking out a spring leaf will help a little - Better would be a switch to 13 or 14 inch tires which you could run only 25 or 30 pounds in. Running less than the rated pressure (60PSI?) in the little HF 8 and 12 inch wheels is risky . . . . they want those tires rock hard so that they don't build up any heat whereas an automotive tire will do just fine at 25 pounds . . . . probably even as low as 20 pounds on a less than 1,000 pound trailer - THAT would eliminate your bounce 100%
