I need to install some aluminum side table brackets on my tear. What's the best material to bed them in to protect the screw holes? Silicone, poly, etc?

Duke , I use silicone it seems to hold up well. Just don't be to chinzy with it.

Use plenty , then wipe away the excess. Good luck!

i used silicone I from ge i believe (bought at home depot) to go under my trim. if you plan to paint over it then i believe silicone II would work for it. whatever you get, really gob it on there,, better to have too much and not need it than to have not enough and do.

I',m a poly man myself. Silicone may stay flexible forever, but I've seen the bond break down way too often.

I'm in the door and window business. My choice in Caulk is Nova flex or Boss..
Both can be found at any Real building supply House...
GE is another I would use when in a pinch. I don't like it as well as the other two because it is too runny.
The trick is in making sure the surface is clean before you apply the caulk. If not, it will pull away from the surface due to expansion and contraction and for no other reason.....
