Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I am going to be the 8' Cubby. The plans call for 3/8 in sides.

looking at other tear drops they have been built with 3/4 in sides. What are the good and bad about the 3/8 in.

also will add back the 2 1/8 in he cuts off the trailer and the sides.

any other ideas on the cubby

Okay, sorry, I couldn't resist. I know it was just a typo.

Anyway, I'm not familiar with the Cubby design, but I can tell you that 3/4" sides are for people who want a SUPER sturdy design and don't care much about weight. For a single-wall tear I think 3/8" ply would be fine and 1/2" would be more than enough. If it's going to be a sandwiched wall, with inner and outer walls surrounding insulation then 3/8" is more than plenty.

John,,you can talk to Clancy Courtney in Columbia ,SC,,I know he built a Cubby by the plans and I have seen his,,,its a fine job ,,and he is more than willing to share his experience,,,lots of info there especially if ya building by the plans,,,thats not to mean there is not a wealth of info on this board,,,there is,,most built theirs and not to plans,,,its definately a learning experience,,,have fun though,,take a lot of pictures along the way also ,,,

Built on the Harbor Freight trailer.

Planning on doing a woodie with 1/8 outside skins. Have heard that woodies are a lot of work to keep up.???


Have the trailer now waiting to finish a row boat to make room in the garage.. HAVE a good day
