Damaged plywood veneer

I hate to ask this because I will be admitting how carelessly stupid I was but here goes. I was using a palm sander on the interior door skin and before I realized it had sanded through the veneer to the base wood in a couple of locations.
It's making me sick just thinking about it. Any tips out there(besides taking up a different hobby) on how best to correct this? I know that I could replace the entire skin but the grain matches the interior since it was cut from the same sheet.
Thanks, George.
