I was thinking about incorporating a side door behind my galley to house a portable composting toilet. This would store the toilet when not in use. I was planning on making a box where it would be sealed inside and not open to the rest of the interior of the tear. I was also going to put a vent opening on the door to the outside.

Does anybody forsee any odor problems with this?

Your plan depends on the composting toilet you choose. Some require positive ventilation for evaporation and decomposition. Positive ventilation meaning a fan 12volt or other. Good quality composting toilets don't have any unpleasant odors.

If you vent it , you will smell it! Just logic.

My concern with the composting toilets was the possibility of both odor and gnats. I did a lot of reading on them in considering them. Also, they tend to be much larger, at least when working with a small TT where a 5 or 6 inches can make a difference, then a standard portable toilet. I would definitely do a web-wide search and read all the feedback I could get. Cathy

So they say. This is from the Sun-Mar RV and Boat composting toilet propaganda. Seems you have a different set of sealing problems when you have the toilet bouncing around.
