Oil or Water based primer and paint over Spar Urethane

That is not correct. You should not use oil base paint over water based paints. They will not adhere correctly. The oil need something to penetrate in order adhere properly. You can paint water based paint over both oil based & water based paints as long as the base paint is dry.

Posted: Tue Dec 02, 2008 9:14 amI used oil based "Zinsser" high adhesive primer, then oil based "Rust Coat". The latex primer seemed to want to "bead" a bit. Everything was sanded. It needs more coats but it was time to go campin'!!!
