I thought this was interesting info for the New/Budget Minded (Aren't We All!) Builder.
As my build nears completion, I started taking inventory. Granted my Standy is larger than most builds here.

I used TiteBond III for all wood joints and sandwich wall construction. I made Sure there were No Dry Glue Joints and "wet out" both sides of "end grain" joints. Had I bought individual bottles at the Big Blue Store, the total would have been 57.19 less tax. (7 bottle X 8.17) A Gallon sells for 27.77!

This is who much I have left. Guess I had some waste, not too much though.

So How much did You use and did it take several trips to the big box store?

I used 2 1/2 of the smaller bottles above, But I used 6 of the PL glue tubes.

Titebond III $8.17 x 3 = $24.51

PL adhesive $4.58 x 6 = $27.48

Total = $55.00

Close huh?? ;)

I buy it by the gallon (titebond II) and refill the smaller bottle. I've used the gallon over 3-4 years with no problem... I do add a bit of water to the gallon, it floats on top and keep a skin from forming. The gallon does thicken up a bit, so the water also helps there..

If you do insulated walls, you will use up a lot of glue..... in my last tear, I used over 1/2 gallon (built up floor and walls and ceiling)..... not only is it cheaper, you don't have to run to the store to buy another small bottle.

when the top on the smaller bottle gets clogged up with dry glue, I use a mini screwdriver to clean it out and hot water as the final rinse. been using the same small bottle for 5 years.

Thanks Mary K!
That will help all those looking at the Generic Benroy (see above). It all goes into the material list!

ARNE Says....If you do insulated walls, you will use up a lot of glue.....
Boy ain't that the truth!

Next td I'm buying a gallon and loading it into the smaller bottles. Never have to make a run to Lowes just for glue.

 Bought the small bottle of Tight Bond III, ran out almost immediately, bought the gallon. Now unfortunately I left it sitting on the garage floor in winter.... :? Decided my roof was too important to take a chance and bought another gallon......

How Much Glue Do I Need?

The answer is easy... More then you have... always works out that way

I am, perhaps, a glue lush. I've been through a gallon Titebond III, 6 tubes PL poly, and about 1/2 gallon epoxy used as glue with silica and wood flour thrown in to thicken it.

I'm not done yet.

I guess what you are building makes a difference. Mine's a 5x10 Modernistic-ish.
