Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Got the floor decked. Used 3/4 cdx. Coated the underside and fastened with self tapping screws. The next step is to roll the trailer outside the shop so I can draw a full size template of the sides- hopefully tommorow.We finally had a heat wave- 32 degrees! ,so it's been easier to heat the shop. Woo-hoo! Then I'll start framing my sides. Once I have the sides framed I'll pull the trailer back in, pull the wheels off and level the trailer for the build!
On a side note- I'm going to build this trailer using engineered wood products - plywood mostly. My goal is to not use any dimensional lumber at all- something I've become proficient at after 25 years building cabinets.

Hey it is all up from here! Keep at it and you will be camping in no time.

It feels good to get started building something, huh? What's the body going to be like? Do you have pictures of your plans?

Yes, it does feel good to start building something. I get real cagey during the winters and I must have something to do. I work from home so some days I'll be in the shop for 12,14 hours so it's nice to have something out there to do besides build stuff for other people.

Ah...I just saw your other post with your floor plan as well...Cool! We're looking forward to seeing your progress. My own progress is quite slow as I'm only working 1 day a week or so and I must wait for funds to trickle in! The upside is, the plan can change as we go!

Hope to get the sides skinned and attached to trailer early this week

Used the leftover pieces of 3/4 ply from the deck to frame the sides. Joined pieces with epoxy and corrugated fastners shot out of a pneumantic gun- very quick and strong once the epoxy sets.

Costs to date:
Paint, primer,rust remover, etc to refinish frame(not including leaf springs and bearings) $50 USD
3/4 CDX ply for deck and sides, epoxy glue ,self tapping screws $60 USD
