Got My Ford Lights - Now What?

Well received my stop/turn signal lights from Westcott's today. Only took about 10 days! Not bad considering I'm in Canada. Duty/brockerage fees were a bit of a killer though...

Just wondering how these are going to look now since the light mounts are pretty long. Hopefully nobody uses them as a handle either. I'll be able to get the tear out of its shed in a week or two when the last of the snow is gone to check em out.

Has anyone else used these on their fenders? Seems to me I've seen a photo of someones tear with these... not sure if they were that long though. Anybody have some close up photos?

On the plus side, I'll have another place to hang dirty clothes :o

Here are the lights...

I gave a lot of thought to those lights, I wanted something retro, but more current, I'm going with 1940-54 GM pick up lights. glass lenses, blue dot. I am going to mount them to the side of the trailer. I don't have a bracket, need to make something up. I looked into getting the same brackets, but they won't mount up to my lights as the mounting bolts on my lights are off set, not parallel. I've got the same fenders too. Cool lights !! And I'll bet if someone uses them like a handle or a step, they'll only do it once...... Doug Hodder

They will look great and are actually quite solid when mounted. The curve of the fender will pretty well determine where they will mount.

Ken,

You have a So-Cal Speed shop in the Houston area. You should be able to get them over the counter there.

While we're on the subject of lights:

I'm just starting to look at the Cubby manual, and I haven't done a thing yet construction-wise using a Harbor Freight chasis, but...

Can I ignore the light wiring installation for now if I want to do something cool like this when the time comes, or do I still have to run the basic wiring now while modifying the chasis?

I think I'm going to go with the 1928 Ford tail lights too. I ordered some diamond plate alumuminum fenders from Cabelas http://tinyurl.com/48q9w I got them in this week. I think the Ford tail lights will look really sweet mounted on these fenders.

We've always pulled our trailer wiring when we were almost done.

Why?

First of all, we don't mind climbing around under the trailer...

secondly, we come up thru the floor of the teardrop...

thirdly, we pull the wires up to the galley lid, and then wire our taillights there...

It works for us... ;)
