roof vent/ fan

I am getting ready to make the first cut in my roof  to install my fan.
Having to deal with a leaking roof in my house making this first cut is hard for me.

Looking at the radius of the roof I will need to add spacers at the front and rear of the fan flange.
Does anyone have any ideas on what is a good product? :worship:

Sounds like your roof doesn't have a 14" flat area for a roof vent/fan. I wouldn't advise installing one on a radius. :D Danny

Not on a radius?!? Wouldn’t that eliminate the fan in half of the tears out there?
I say build a low profile frame for under the fan and radius the bottom- mount the fan on that and Viola’
 A bead of silicone I suppose between the layers and you are in business.
Or mount it to the side- that should be flat.

There is some flexibility in the flange of the roof vent. Combined with a little bit of silicone, it might be just enough to draw it up tight and seal it.

Your best bet is try to screw it on dry, and see it it pulls up tight. If not, then you can fashion up a shim of sorts....

I think you'll find that you can suck it down without much problem...sort of depends on how hard your radius is. I put it in on a radius on my 2nd one and had no problems. The base is pretty forgiving and there is enough play that the top and interior flange still fits. Just my experience with it. Doug

Don't have any pix of the actual Fantastic Vent/Fan installation but here's a couple of pix of the 'radius' framing for the vent & the insulation prior to adding the roof skin. Not a lot of 'curve' but you can see it is definitely there. Installed the vent with nothing more than sealant & screws. 2 1/2yrs & almost 10K miles later there've been no leaks or any other problem.
