You might prefer to build one, but it's an option.

I got this idea from Mad Jack. It makes great inside and outside storage. Sorry I couldn't find a photo of the inside.

How did you install the bottom sides to the tear? Mine is still away from the tear itself thus the question.

That's a good question! The side panels are screwed to the top box and to the floor bottom, the rest is caulked to the body. The box is held to the frame with a huge u bolt, plus screwed to the teardrop body. I think that's how it was done.

I still haven't managed to get my build pages reloaded, but here are a few pics of my tongue box build...I think it's the only part of the tear with more new material than salvaged pieces, LOL!

How the 'inside access' was framed:


Assembled the basic framework in place on the tongue, made a template to match the curve of the body, then cut and framed the roof supports:




Moved the framework inside to skin, paint, and build the doors:


Reinstalled...it's bolted to the tongue and also attached to the body:


It has three separate compartments...a large domed interior shelf, a large compartment for the air conditioner (or extra inside storage when the a/c isn't needed), and a small outside storage area for extention cords, wheel blocks, jack stands, etc...:


The inside shelf isn't finished yet...I have small porthole covers for the windows, rope trim for the edges, and a grass mat headliner for the roof that needs to be installed:

I tried for a kinda vintage 30's automobile trunk look, corners are 2x2 with 3/8" ply, radius corners and epoxy/paint finish. Battery is kept in here. Doug

Beautiful tongue box Doug Reminiscent of the old classic cars. A perfect match for your "The American Voyager". Danny
