Hatch Seal and Side Profile Question.

I am building a Grumman 2 teardrop and I am almost at the point where I attach the walls to the frame. I was wondering if I need to cut off about 1/8 inch from the side walls where the hatch would be to accommodate the hatch seal so that it lays flush with the roof?

It hard to determine from the drawings, but it looks to me that the side profile is not cut, but I would hate to attach the walls to the floor and then find out later that I do need to cut the notch. It would be easier to cut now if I have to. I am hoping someone could tell me what I need to do here.

 Yes you do need to cut a notch for the seal and it is easier to do if you cut it before the sides are up.

Yep, you need to cut a notch. The easiest way to do it is with a router. Start with a rabbet bit, then move to a trim bit. Use your best judgement on how much to triim off. I went with 3/8", but I think that was a bit too much.

I used a jig saw to cut my notch, when the walls were in the up position. Pretty easy actually!

I think I made my notch about 1/4" this time...

Thanks for the advice. I think I will get "Jiggy wit it".
